Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: On Gratitude
My three personal core values are very simple really: Respect, Integrity, and Gratitude. You should see one or more of those in everything I say and do. It is with Respect that I package yarn headed your way quite carefully and thoughtfully. It is with Integrity that I do not knowingly understate available quantities for sale to generate artificial FOMO (fear of missing out).
When you see a Thank You signature line or sticker on your package, that’s not because we’re supposed to or because I was taught it at my Management 101 class. We are sincerely grateful that you give Mrs. Knits and me the opportunity to work together side by side to earn an honest living. And Mrs. Knits gets her dream job of being the knitting expert that she is. That’s a lot to be thankful for!
So we strip away a lot of the trappings of this holiday and focus on just the namesake: Thanks-giving. It’s human nature to complain - we don’t need a holiday to remind us. But a healthy reminder to appreciate what we do have is so important. Many years ago it was just thanks for a bountiful harvest, but now for many people it’s thanks for a lot more.
But we’re not total purists! We’ll have a turkey dinner at a local family-owned restaurant this Thursday. And I’ve lined up dozens of eBay auctions to end on Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and will add some yarns for the holidays. Also more goodies will be launched on this website in the coming week, like more of KFI’s finest yarns, elegant Atenti bags, and the long-awaited Noro Haunui yarn - undyed and colored only by the sheep itself!
Mrs. Knits and I bid you Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Knitting!
