Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: Summer is not quite over
Growing up in northern New Jersey, I always looked forward to our family’s week or so at the end of August at the Jersey Shore! Yes, yes, I saw the show. And yes, those fist-pumping shirtless wonders do exist at Seaside Heights - but alongside diverse families and people from all over the region. The ocean beaches, boardwalk, games, food, and more were so much fun!
But before I even got there, without fail, here comes the barrage of back to school ads in early August. Way to put a dampener on the fun of an ADHD person like me who never could enjoy school! I have since learned that other parts of the country, like my brother’s family in the Oklahoma City suburbs, do start school in mid-August. That differs from New Jersey and most Mid-Atlantic schools that start classes just after Labor Day.
Well, Mrs. Knits and I are not quite done with Summer yarns. I just completed a full inventory and found even more of those festive ribbons and other novelty yarns to offer. Several new colors of our popular Painted Sock are on the way to us! We also got our hands on more white lace and other finer gauge yarns. That includes Noro yarns with silk and/or cotton, that even a non-knitter like me can tell is gorgeous! Check out our Noro Summer Trunk Show if you haven’t already. But it is time to offer healthy discounts on some of our yarn to start making room for Autumn.
Now since some of you are sending kids off to school right now, you might feel about ready to cast on a nice Autumn project that’ll be finished by Halloween. We’re setting up what I learned is called “shoulder season” yarns: maybe a little heavy for summer, but perfect for that light Autumn wrap, shawl, or scarf.
Here’s the plan: for the Summer Clearance yarns be sure to check our eBay Clearance Store, as well as the eBay Noro Store. But the shoulder season yarns will begin our transition of Noro from eBay to this website store. So keep your eyes on the Noro category of our shop right here for Noro Kureopatora, Kureyon, Ito, Taiyo, Okunoshima, and more.
Hope you enjoy the rest of your Summer - we’ve still got at least a few weeks left of it!
