Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: More about MKYS 4.0
Mrs. Knits started in a garage in Mercer Island, just east of Seattle (1.0). Then she went part time (2.0), then included me (3.0) in a garage in Bremerton, just west of Seattle. :-) We're forging ahead with the next iteration: our own website store that does not rely on eBay. If you've read my previous blog posts, you know we have a love/hate relationship with eBay. So it's time to take the proverbial shackles off. We'll be able to include links to educational videos, links to other knitting and crochet experts, and details on other product lines. Inability to include external links has been a hinderance in introducing Lykke Needles (excellent quality needles and needle kits), and even more of a hinderance for Soak Wash (capable of washing knitted garments, swimwear, face masks, yoga mats, and more).
As your logistics guy, let me give you a preview of the anticipated store policies.
I like the idea of continuing to offer free economy shipping [edit: not happening, see blog entry of 6/11]. I've put a lot of time into getting the most bang for the buck on shipments. That's why Priority Mail is still used over UPS Ground a lot, because saving $1 or less is not worth it to make you wait an extra week for your yarn.
We will probably offer an expedited shipping option for a fee. You might be surprised how much extra it costs us to overnight something. But if you are willing to spring for it, then off it goes for overnight delivery. Mrs. Knits understands yarn emergencies. :-)
Our return policy on eBay has been no returns, with occasional exceptions, certainly if I screw it up. We're planning on getting more specific on when we will accept returns. We will most likely accept exchanges, like when you want to get a different color. We'll just ask you to help with the cost of shipping the same purchase 3 times.
We never needed to be told by eBay to provide you with excellent service! So if anything, that service will get even better without eBay constantly looking over our shoulders and restricting communications.
And eBay won't go away. We plan on having our finest products here on mrsknits.com, like most of our Noro, Ella Rae, KFI, and Mirasol collections. There will always be yarns for clearance or otherwise discounted, which are better suited to eBay.
We are excited to deploy yet another tool to deliver to you Happy Knitting!
