Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: The Expansion Begins
What’s on our needles? Tucked away just off of Kitsap Way in Bremerton, WA (just west of Seattle), is an unassuming little office building. If you go down some stairs on the left side of the building, you’ll find our grotto that is Mrs. Knits Yarn Studio.
Why a Yarn Studio instead of a traditional yarn shop? We want to offer a personalized experience, by appointment, or in scheduled events. So there will not be regular store hours, where you come in anytime and squeeze a few skeins of yarn.
We want you to leave eager to start on the project that you and Mrs. Knits set up just the way you like it! Mrs. Knits is very much looking forward to guiding fellow knitters (and crocheters) to that next project. She enjoys it so much that there is no additional charge for her help in getting you the yarn and notions you need. She mostly wants to meet and play with fellow fiber fanatics!
There is also the matter of disabilities that prevent us from keeping consistent hours. We really want to avoid promising something and not delivering.
You see the space above? That’s where I come in. As her VP of Logistics, Mrs. Knits has tasked me with co-design and setup of this new knitting and crocheting experience. If Mrs. Knits attempted it herself, you would end up with what I like to call Funky-Shui. 😀 Fortunately I have an auto-CAD brain that can drop the furnishings in like a game of Tetris.
The plan is premium yarn and some notions on display all around the walls, and a big project table in the middle. I think we’ll call it Knits Of The Round Table. Oh come now, I’ve seen wackier knitting puns! Tell you what, we’ll have crochet circles called Crochet Can You See (Mrs. Knits is looking forward to learning crochet with your help).
We just got those keys yesterday, and now the fairly simple buildout begins. The tentative plan is a grand opening event during Labor Day weekend, featuring new collections from Madelinetosh.
Then follow us on Facebook for periodic events for you fiber fanatics. Mrs. Knits is very much looking forward to your company and Happy Knitting. I’ll make the coffee and tea. 🙂
