Welcome Elsebeth Lavold

Mrs. Knits has been offline curating multiple new collections for sophisticated knitters. Mrs. Knits discovered Lavold in 2005 when she was new to eBay. Eighteen years later we rediscovered her collection of Silky Wool and Hempathy Yarns. All three fibers come in the same palette with dozens of colors. We love the luxurious silk content and textural interest.

Elsebeth Lavold Yarns are the height of sophisticated yarns made with knitters in mind. She has three fibers and weights: Hempathy, Silky Wool, and Silky Wool Aran. We are adding new colors including the Fall 2023 new shades and patterns. She has themed collections with a classic English influence.

Hempathy is her spring fine gauge unique creation of a cotton base with hemp and Modal, which is a synthetic version of wool. The hemp loses its stiffness but retains the sheen and body of linen. Each 50g ball knits at a #2 Fine Gauge at 5-6sts/inch or Crochet Hook D3 at 4sts/inch.

Silky Wool

Silky Wool is a long-time favorite with a light nubby twist. This wonderful Wool / Silk blend knits to a DK weight gauge and creates a fabric that is lightweight, but warm. Silky Wool is a great choice when you are knitting or crocheting multi-season garments.

Silky Wool Aran

Mrs. Knits’ personal favorite is Lavold’s Silky Wool Aran. Lavold added a heftier, aran-weight version of the perennial favorite Silky Wool, with the same subtly tweedy colors. This wool, silk, and nylon blend is soft enough for next-to-the-skin but is still a sturdy, go-to workhorse yarn suitable for a large variety of knitted projects. Great stitch definition for cables, and also shines in lace patterns.

Happy Knitting and Happy Crocheting!
