Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: Our last week on eBay
After over 20 years on eBay, Mrs. Knits Yarn Shop is down to its last week. Just after midnight on August 25th, we will de-list everything on eBay, moving some of it to our Clearance page right here.
Even though this move is the rough equivalent to moving a brick & mortar yarn shop just a block away, there is still some time and expense to the move. So we are motivated to deeply discount some quality yarn, so we don’t have to move it. Our Noro yarn will still be a healthy quantity discount, but not a deep discount.
But the yarn we want to avoid moving? This is your opportunity to get some quality yarn at a price just above our shipping cost (we offer free shipping on eBay). Look for the title FINAL FINAL CLEARANCE. You may be surprised at the wonderful yarn with that in the title, including gorgeous novelty yarns. There are also major quantity discounts among those, up to 50% off the listed price when you buy more.
And definitely check out our last auctions with that title: the starting bid on most of those will be ridiculously low!
We have had our ups and downs with eBay. Some of their policies, like not allowing us to inform our eBay customers online of this website, were clearly intended to keep us under their thumb. But they made a serious mistake: gradually eroding seller protections that we paid extra for. The last straw on the proverbial camel’s back was more like a brick: allowing falsified store reviews, and placing them front and center for the whole platform to see. Our one negative review on eBay out of 6000 was a customer who contradicted herself in making a false claim. eBay used to remove those, but not anymore, and we are not waiting around for the next slander.
Still, we don’t end a 20 year business relationship lightly. eBay was a great way to get our business legs under us, figure things out, and find out what works and what doesn’t. I will maintain some of the processes developed for eBay. Now it is past time to fly from the nest of seller guidance, and provide the amazing service that we learned how to provide, right here at www.mrsknits.com.
