Out Of The Box With Mr. Knits
So to introduce myself, I am Philip Mariconda, Vice President of Logistics at Mrs. Knits Yarn Shop, but you can also call me Mr. Knits. I will be throwing into this blog now and then. When asked to choose a title, I felt it was important to leave no doubt who the boss is at MKYS. Too often in these situations, men will just take over, usually meaning well. But the result is the same, disempowering another woman for no good reason. So my title makes it abundantly clear that I report to someone, in this case Bonnie Mariconda, who you know as Mrs. Knits.
What I bring to the table is certainly not knitting skills. The photo should convey that nicely, as well as my appreciation for music (especially Progressive Rock). Even the colors of the swatch from Mrs. Knits (I think the legendary Noro Silk Garden #8) reflect my being a fan of the Seattle Seahawks, Northwest Derby Company, the Seattle Mariners, and especially the future Seattle Kraken NHL team (and I got some love to offer the Seattle Storm). I’m originally from northern New Jersey, but after 16+ years in the Seattle area, I’m all in!
By the way, I just posted Seattle Seahawks and Sounders color yarn: Filati FF Agadir #8. Now you can channel that beloved crazy Seahawks fan Mama Blue!
But I digress. I have yet to figure out knitting, and my color skills are just emerging from “typical man” territory. But I am really good at logistics like inventory tracking, shipping, and eStore management. As a MS Excel expert, at this stage in the store’s development, a robust MS Excel inventory system is working quite well. I remember colleagues leaving their corporate jobs to join an entrepreneurial small business. I always thought they were nuts! Well, looks like I just did it.
That’s all good for Mrs. Knits, who is amazing at knitting, fibers, and color theory! But she’ll be the first to admit she is terrible at those logistics. I really like our complementary arrangement that has taken MKYS from being part time for spare change, to a valuable service for people like you.
You might’ve guessed by now that Bonnie is my wife of 5½ years. You’ll see her photo in an occasional eBay listing or two. It’s like Cindy Loo Who grew up nice. 😊
So anytime you buy from MKYS, it’s almost certainly me that will carefully package the yummies as Mrs. Knits calls them, ensuring a safe arrival to your needles, and Happy Knitting.
