Out of the Box with Mr. Knits: Less Loose Ends

Philip Mariconda Profile.jpeg

Hello friends in fiber!  I'm not a knitter (at least not yet), but I know that Mrs. Knits favors large skeins of yarn so there are fewer ends to weave in.  Kinda like that, it's up to me to help keep this thing going.  That means I'm the bad guy sometimes: you can't have same day delivery, the yarn won't be delivered in an armored truck, and sometimes prices go up.

There's a few reasons for price increases.  The most recent was a change in the US Post Office rules that changed the maximum of first class packages from 15.9 ounces to 13 ounces. So that pair of 200g Ito balls costs more to ship now, and there goes the further discount on 4+ skeins of anything 100g.

What you will see next is an increase in single skein pricing, but there will usually be a bigger discount for multiple skeins.  That way we can still make an honest living off those single skeins, and share more of the shipping savings for bigger orders.  Heck, some of them will end up cheaper for 4+ skeins!

This also plays into what smart knitters do: always buy more than you need for a project. That's not us trying to make an extra buck.  Dye lots change, styles are discontinued - and there's no guarantee that we will have the same dye lot again later.  And I can see that subtle change in dye lot being one of those things that most people would never notice in your gorgeous sweater, but it'll be a total eyesore for you.  Kinda like I wish I removed that wind chime from the shelf above my head in this picture (now you see it, right?)

And safe to say that most or all of our product offerings will continue to be priced below retail, certainly when you account for our usual free shipping.

So as usual I bid you Happy Knitting - with all the affordable yarn you need!
